When Ryan is not around and Basketball TV or History Channel or Discovery Channel is not on; when the maid is not by herself watching local TV shows; and when the maid has Lia with her, the TV is on music channels – either Channel [V] or MTV.

So two days ago, I was sitting on the living room floor and tending to my Cafe on Facebook and Katy Perry concert commercials kept playing on MTV and I thought, “I have a Katy Perry album. Why don’t I play it too?!”

So I played the album and Lia just would not sleep until she have had her time with my laptop. Because of her typing (more like banging), this is what I found!

The album info. Because I’m just stupid like that. Never knew there is that feature. *straight straight face on*

Album Review

Listening to Katy Perry’s debut, One of the Boys, it’s easy to assume she’ll do anything for attention, and a close read of her history proves that suspicion true. Prior to her transformation into a teen sensation, Perry was a Christian singer operating under the name Katy Hudson…
… the 24-year-old is singing with the desperation of a fading burlesque star twice her age, yet Perry’s pandering on One of the Boys is startling, particularly as it comes in the form of some hybrid of Alanis Morissette’s caterwauling and the cold calculation of Britney Spears in her prime. This fusion is no accident, as Perry works once again with Ballard, the producer behind Alanis’ breakthrough Jagged Little Pill, and Max Martin, the writer/producer of “Baby One More Time” — and that’s just for starters! She also brings aboard Desmond Child to give “Waking Up in Vegas” an anonymous anthemic pulse, Dave Stewart to give “I’m Still Breathing” a Euro sheen, and Butch Walker to amp up the amplifiers, giving her a different sound for every imaginable demographic.

Perry is not untalented — she writes like an ungarbled Alanis and has an eye for details, as when she tells her emo metrosexual boyfriend to hang himself in his H&M scarf on “Ur So Gay” — but that only accentuates how her wild-child persona is an artifice designed to get her the stardom she craves..

A Euro sheen indeed! That just so happens to be my favorite song in the whole album. Followed closely by “Lost” and on third place, “Thinking of You”.

“I’m Still Breathing”

I leave the gas on
Walk the allies in the dark
Sleep with candles burning
I leave the door unlocked
I’m weaving a rope and
Running all the red lights
Did I get your attention
Cause I’m sending all the signs that
The clock is ticking and I’ll be giving
My two weeks

Pick your favorite shade of black
You’d best prepare a speech
Say something funny
Say something sweet
But don’t say that you loved me

’cause I’m still breathing
But we’ve been dead for awhile
This sickness has no cure
We’re going down for sure
Already lost a grip
Best abandon ship

Maybe I was too pale
Maybe I was too fat
Maybe you had better
Better luck in the sack
No formal education
And I swore way too much
But I swear you didn’t care
Cause we were in love

So as I write this letter
And she’d my last tear
No, it’s all for the better
That we end this here
Let’s close this chapter
Say one last prayer
But don’t say that you loved me

I’m still breathing
I’m still breathing

This song seriously deserves its own video. But what the heck.

I’m out on my own again
Face down in the porcelain
Feeling so high but looking so low
Party favors on the floor
Group of girls banging on the door
So many new fair-weather friends oooh

Have you ever been so lost
Known the way and still so lost

Caught in the eye of a hurricane
Slowly waving goodbye like a pageant parade
So sick of this town pulling me down
My mother says I should come back home but
Can’t find the way cause the way is gone
So if I pray am I just sending words into outer space

Have you ever been so lost
Known the way and still so lost
Another night waiting for someone to take me home
Have you ever been so lost

Is there a light
Is there a light
At the end of the road
I’m pushing everyone away
‘Cause I can’t feel this anymore
Can’t feel this anymore

Have you ever been so lost
Known the way and still so lost
Another night waiting for someone to take me home
Have you ever been so lost
Have you ever been so lost.

Katy Perry is okay, regardless of the album review. It was good information though. I think now that any album with any particular track that I can dance Lia to sleep is okay. Hahaha. Throw in some angsty rock ballads and I’m good to go.

By the way, the extra characters in the title is Lia’s doing. 😉
