The multinational cast of Up with People is headed to Manila. Up with People (UWP), which has toured to 38 countries around the world during the last 47-years, has announced that Manila will culminate the Asian portion of their World Premier Tour of VOICES. The Philippine portion of the Asian tour schedule is as follows:

Puerto Princesa, Palawan, Philippines – October 15 – 22 – Show at the City Coliseum Friday, October 19 at 7:00 PM

Manila, Philippines – October 22 – 29 – Show on Saturday, October 27 at 7:00 PM

Up with People, best known for their high-energy, upbeat, family-friendly entertainment, is made up of a cast of 100 participants, representing 20 countries who have chosen to participate in UWP’s international global education program for young adults. For over 45 years, the casts of Up with People have toured the globe performing for millions, including an unprecedented four Super Bowl halftime shows.

On January 1, 2011, Up with People performed, for the second time in three years, for the opening celebration of the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Rose Parade, which was seen by an estimated television audience of more than 50 million.

Long before Glee, American Idol and High School Musical, Up with People created the genre of high- energy entertainment performed by an ensemble of talented young people from around the world. The show is an international collaboration of music, dance, and genuine energy with a message of hope and goodwill across nations. This electrifying stage show will move your feet, stir your soul, and touch your heart.

VOICES, UWP’s latest production, is a performance featuring both original and popular music and is a dynamic blend of feature soloists, full cast production numbers, fast-moving choreography and colorful costumes. VOICES is inspired and motivated by recent worldwide events and features medleys of popular music, international music and of course, original Up with People music. The aim is to leave the audience feeling empowered to connect, communicate and create positive change in their communities, to ‘…rise above the noises, and listen to the voices of the world.’ Throughout the show, international cast members will provide the audience with a glimpse of their own national traditions and cultures through music and dance.

While in Manila, between October 22 and October 29, Up with People will spend time participating in community service projects and living with local host families.  For now we are still finalizing all the projects, GK Baseco confirmed one and the list of projects goes on. In each city we visit we try to focus on a need in that community…there is no template for service but rather doing what needs to be done. Up with People Promotion Representatives are now recruiting families to host the international cast members for their one-week stay in Manila. The sharing goes both ways, while families share their traditions and local attractions, the cast members share their experiences and cultures. By the end of their five-month world tour, the cast will have visited dozens of communities and stayed with many host families throughout the United States, Asia, and Mexico.

UP with People is looking for host families!

If you are interested in participating in this wonderful project, UP with People is currently looking for families or individuals who can host the cast in their homes for a week. Transportation allowance will be given to the cast but beds, breakfast and dinner for them need to be provided by hosts. 100 hosts are needed and help and support in this project will be very much appreciated.
