After many years, I finally made it to Nacpan Beach. On a confused-weather day, we rented a motorbike and rode all the way to Nacpan Beach – Lia and I with our friend Likha. I say “confused weather” because it wasn’t really sunny but it wasn’t cloudy either. Not all the time at least. Though we appreciated the fact that sometimes the sun hid behind the clouds and made the motorbike ride more bearable for everyone, this was not good at all for my so-called photographic endeavors.
In summary:
- Motorbike rental for the whole day is Php700, gas is included, but you drive the motorbike yourself. You may hire a motorbike with a driver from Php500 and above, depending on your negotiation skills, and maybe, your weight. You may also choose to rent a tricycle for Php1000 and above, depending on the number of people going.
- You may also choose to spend the night in Nacpan Beach. There are currently two available accommodations. You may camp but be warned of the sand flies.
- Travel time from El Nido town to Nacpan Beach is 45 minutes to 1 hour, depending on how fast you drive. It can even be 30 minutes if you drive like mad.
- Lunch on the beach is Php250/pax with your choice of viand, salad, dessert and unlimited rice. The meal is simple but delicious. There is another little eatery by the road where one can also have lunch. If not, packed lunch is the only other option.
The sun is out!
Aww, the sun went into hiding.
Our tire tracks on the beach. Yes, you can ride your motorbike on the sand. I was actually given lessons on how to drive a motorcycle while we were here. But no, those aren’t my tire tracks.
This was my first trip to the beach for 2013 so my skin was still close to its normal color. I’m saying this now because after 2 months, I have varied tan lines all over my body from different swim suits and shirts, crisscrossing my back in interesting directions, and well, I can only guess when this normal skin color is coming back or if it will at all.
Shortly after we arrived in Nacpan, another motorbike arrived with a lone traveler in the back – an Italian. This random Italian guy joined us for the rest of our time in Nacpan, and was actually our on-the-spot nanny to Lia. Together, he and Lia went swimming and enjoyed hammock rides.
I was just taking a photo of the squid that was on the grill when he said, “Why don’t we have a picture together?” And Likha and I just sort of went along. In the photo, I was laughing because this hug was just totally unexpected. “Where did this hug come from and what did I do to deserve this?!” I thought to myself.
Anyway, we all had lunch together and after a while, when Lia was tired and sleepy, went on the bike and left him there. Never to be heard from again.
Our rented motorcycle for the day.
Lia loves crazy hammock rides.
The photos on this blog were taken by Likha, Lia and me.
This was us hanging out at the little cottage at Cervantes’ place. The photo is taken by by Lia. Likha had a rash guard on and I had leggings on, to protect ourselves from the sand flies.
The Italian’s hired motorcycle driver for the day. Cheap at Php500 for a trip back and forth, including the wait!
If you are looking to spend the night at Nacpan Beach, you may do so in the following places:
1. Jack’s Place
Contact Joy at 0907-344-9337.
Jack’s Place has a little store and eatery for your basic needs. You can have the place cook your meals for you at Php250/head.
They also have basic accommodations. This hut has 2 fan rooms. One of them was occupied on that day.
2. “Cervantes’ Place”
Contact Cervantes at 0946-140-8903
The accommodations are basic at best. No frills. I forget how much the rent is per night. Best to just call or send a text message to inquire. You may also set up a tent, but then again, think of the sand flies.
Nacpan Beach is where everybody in town goes to when there is no island hopping – which happens when there’s a typhoon and the waves are too strong. Many a time I have seen droves of motorbikes with tourists on the road to Nacpan Beach on a rainy, windy day. When the weather is not too good, tourists mainly stay in the beach in town, or take a short trip to Marimegmeg Beach in Corong-Corong, or take a longer trip all the way to Nacpan Beach. But most times, the beach is completely empty.
Be warned though that there are a lot of sand flies in Nacpan Beach, and going there with petroleum jelly is your best bet. Apply liberally on skin. Yes, petroleum jelly. Lather on every part of your body and have fun! 🙂
Hi! Waaahh the beach looks so nice! We are planning to rent a motorbike as well pagpunta namin. How was the ride? And how much was the bike rental? Can it accommodate 2 persons?
Ride is smooth for most of the road, except the last part after turning right into the bridge, where the path is unpaved and can become muddy if it has recently rained. Motorbikes rent out for Php700 for the semi-automatic, Php800 for the automatic scooter, and Php1000 for the big bike, all can accommodate 2 persons. Three persons can also be done, depending on size of passengers, but is generally not advisable. 😉

How long would it take to get to Nacpan from El Nido town? And is it okay for a solo traveler to go there?
