Your Imaginary Friends Makes it Home to Wharf Galley Rock Cafe

SUPPORT BICOLANO ARTISTS – that’s the thrust of Wharf Galley, so every time we have a Manila-based band coming over to Naga, we prioritize bringing the Bicolanos back home. Your Imaginary Friends, composed of  Ahmad Tanji (vocals and guitars) of Legazpi’s famed Pepsi Paloma Experiment, his brother Khalid (guitars), Eric Po(drums) from Naga City and Emerald Aquino (bass), are as close to being all Bicolano as they can get.

At B-Side, The Collective, Makati

After months of planning, that included a meet-and-greet at the Shoplifters United Presents – Silence is the Villain event (click on the link for the photos) at B-Side last August and then another meeting at Today x Future at Cubao X last September, Your Imaginary Friends (YIF) finally made it to Naga City!

Eric Po, the band’s drummer and graphic artist extraordinaire, made a lot of publicity materials for this event in the course of three months. This helped a lot in promoting the event and no doubt, helped in making the event a very successful one.

Johnoy Danao at Wharf Galley Rock Cafe – May 21, 2011

Music, Wharf Galley Rock Cafe By August 28, 2011 Tags: , , , , , , No Comments

Johnoy’s gig was actually supposed to be on May 7th, but Typhoon Bebeng (Related story: Bebeng Threatens Bicol Region) came lashing down on the entire region with strong winds and heavy rains, which caused Johnoy and his team, on a Cebu Pacific plane that hovered above the Pili Airport for some time waiting and hoping to land to no avail, to come back to Manila. Incidentally, that also spoiled our Pacquiao vs Mosely plans at Ramashinta Resort & Spa, as well as my Mother’s Day Special at Stonehouse Gardens.

Poster layout by Ver Estotsenberg

This is the old poster, which we released back when Wharf Galley Rock Cafe was still at its old location in Elias Angeles St., near Nagaland Hotel and our partner printing press was Goldprint. This was also back in the time when I thought one could make do with only a few sponsors here and there (and boy, was I so wrong!)

Angku at the old Wharf Galley Rock Cafe

Personal, Wharf Galley Rock Cafe By August 22, 2011 No Comments

I believe my friend Cheekay Torres took these photos. Thanks Cheeks. It took me quite a while to go through the photos because

1. I have been very busy
2. I ran out of hard disk space both on my mac and my portable hard disk
3. I didn’t wanna look at photos of me from this time of the year when I was really, really, really stressed out with a lot of things, not to mention recovering from a difficult experience the past few months.

The Brownman Revival Gig at the old Wharf Galley Rock Cafe, Elias Angeles St. – April 2, 2011

Four months later, here are the photos from that beautiful gig at the old Wharf Galley Rock Cafe in Elias Angeles St.

We started with the usual soundcheck and then dinner at Frennie’s place. Afterwards, the band went back to their accommodations at Naga Manor, before coming back to the bar to play two amazing sets!
