Aplaya Restobar, El Nido, Palawan

Located at the very end of Rizal Street, on the right corner, across from Casa San Buenavista, and facing the beach directly, is Aplaya Bar and Restaurant. It was one of the “new” places I came across coming back in El Nido after a year’s absence. What once was a pretty garden with gumamelas and bougainvillea, stood a bar and restaurant. I had liked going to the beach after work, to have a glass of Shirley Temple, and this was one of the few bars that a Shirley Temple was available (the others being Sea Slugs and El Nido Corner Restaurant). They had a Buy1-Take 1 promo during Happy Hours, and Lia loved playing on the beach in front, so we were here a few times.

My favorite at Sea Slugs would always be their Tanigue in lemon butter sauce and their Shirley Temple. That’s what I always order there. My friends who work for the El Nido Resorts always order pizza when they are in town from the resort.

We were there a lot that I took a lot of photos at different times. This is one of the places in El Nido that we could be seen just hanging out and about.

The restaurant is open the entire day and is a good place to have breakfast. If you’re going to have breakfast with a view like this, why not?

I absolutely love this little bar. It’s on the beach front, a few meters away from Sea Slugs, Og’s and Habibi. The place is very photogenic. I took a hundred and twenty photos in twenty minutes. The sun peeked in and out of the clouds, and it was fun to play hide and seek with.

Every time I pass by El Nido Corner on my way to Caalan, this sign always gets me:

No, not the “Kayak for Rent, Included Safety Best” but the “Sunset Offers from 16:00-18:30“! I have to give it to the resto because these colors are very enticing, at least to me, on whom advertising really works all the time, being the kind of person who would want to buy the cheeseburger that was shown during a commercial break or the Laing on the billboard right outside the airport so on and so forth.

Changes at Wharf Galley Rock Cafe this month

I have been uber busy with a lot of things lately, and I’m not complaining, I love every minute of it. We have a lot of events scheduled at Wharf Galley Rock Cafe, and things are looking up. We have bands from Manila like Brownman Revival playing tonight and Razorback on the 15th, as well as a ska band from Legazpi, Stolenshots on Sunday. My friend Ver Estotsenberg designed the posters for Brownman and Stolenshots (much thanks Dude!).

We will also be operating seven days a week now, as opposed to the old Wednesdays to Sundays open days. My friend Chef Summer‘s menu will now be implemented, with rice meals, sandwiches, pasta, pizza now on the menu. (Happy Birthday dearie! Much love!) I have been working closely with my friend Chase for supplies from Coca-Cola so that we can now also have soft drinks, bottled water, and juice drinks on the menu. I am waiting for the Takoyaki cook set from Japan and soon enough we will be putting up a Takoyaki stall in front of the cafe in the afternoons, with REAL coffee being served upstairs.
